Snowy Mountains Grammar School recently held a farewell ceremony for the outgoing Year 12 students. While they are yet to return to sit their HSC examinations, they have essentially finished their coursework and regular schooling in every sense.
There were three students graduating who have been at Snowy Mountains Grammar School from Kindergarten right through to Year 12: Cassie Kuner, Siobhan Jones and Clancy Bannister.
Kindergarten and Year 1 teacher, Judith Clifford, spoke about when these three students first started school, entertaining the crowd of students, teachers and parents with humorous stories from this time.
Students from Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 had each drawn a portrait of their Year 12 buddy. This was then used to produce a calendar for 2013 and each junior student presented their buddy with their farewell gift on stage. It was very touching to see the future Year 12 class of 2024 with the outgoing class of 2012.
Sue Sell and Darryl Nelson sang a very moving farewell duet on stage, speeches were made, the school band played and candles were lit in the farewell ceremony.
While the Year 12 students remained on stage, the audience went outside and formed a human arch leading from the Snowy Shed to the library, where the students and parents were to be having lunch, and everyone cheered as the departing students ran through the tunnel.
One of the Year 12 students said "it was the best day of my life".
