For the very first time, a dog show will be held in Berridale on Saturday as part of the overall Berridale Lions Spring Fair 2012.
This show has undergone a massive re-vamp for this year and is set to attract a huge amount of people in the area. As the Monaro have a high proportion of dog owners, many families will enjoy this fantastic opportunity to give their special companion a big doggy day out.
Many people love their dogs and they don’t really get to acknowledge the pooches enough, especially as many rely on them just for personal wellbeing. Dogs are important for companionship especially in country areas where isolation impacts on people heavily.
They are now used for therapy with humans - helping tremendously with improving our moods and more often than ever for aiding people with various disabilities. Companion dog shows are growing in popularity fast.
This ‘fun’ dog show is going to be very relaxed and ideal for all dog owners at all levels to enjoy a fun day out with their companion. Every kind of dog may have a chance to compete, even if they hobble a bit or are not regarded as having the most handsome features.
For competitors, the idea is to have your dog looking his or her best if you’re planning on catching the judge’s eye. On arrival at the show, visit the registration desk where you can enter your dog into the show from 9am. The cost will be $5 per entry which also includes an entry into the ‘Lucky Dog Prize.’ The actual show begins at 10am with the ‘one and only’ showing to occur at 10.30am.
Other fund raising activites will be a Grooming and Dog Beauty Booth and an opportunity to get a photo at the Portrait Booth by Kerry Beer Photography.
‘Happy Jo Lucky’ the giant fluffy K9 Mascot from the Cooma Pet Shop will be throwing a few surprises around for the kids. Paws4Training will be giving some really entertaining obedience and agility demonstrations and Mike from the Snowy Mountains Veterinary Group will be giving a great information session.
