TWO people were injured and a man was arrested following a glassing incident in Jindabyne last week.

A Jindabyne man was arrested and charged after a glass he threw in a licensed premises hit a gaming machine and injured two people standing nearby.

It is alleged a 19-year-old man who is staying in the Jindabyne area was at the premises watching the State of Origin last Wednesday with a group of friends. At the end of the match it is believed he threw a beer glass in a fit of temper.

The glass hit a gaming machine and smashed, causing injuries to a man and woman who were standing nearby, and were not associated with the offender or his group.

The offender left the premises prior to Police arrival. Police obtained his description and he was located a short time later in a nearby licensed premises. He was arrested without incident. He was conveyed to Jindabyne Police Station where he was later charged with two counts of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. He is to appear at Cooma Local Court in July.

Conditional bail has been imposed on the offender by Police that he is not to consume alcohol in any licensed premises in the Jindabyne area and is not to be intoxicated in public.

Police have warned that with the vast majority of people coming to the area for the winter wanting to enjoy themselves, this type of behaviour would not be tolerated this ski season. Licensing Police from Monaro Local Area Command will meet with managers of the Club next week in line with NSW Police Force guidelines relating to these types of incidents.
