SNOWY Mountains Grammar School (SMGS) is preparing for its upcoming musical production Rockin' Robin.
The school has not undertaken many musical productions throughout its history. 2012 saw the success of the creative arts department's production of SNAP! This year, the department, including over 60 of the school's senior students, is immersing itself in the weird and wonderful world of Robin Hood and his Band of Merry Men, but with a twist. 2014's production of Rockin' Robin sees the students capture the adventure of a world where fantasy and music are intertwined in the whirlwind of this story.
Directed by Drama teacher, Catherine Batson, the students of SMGS have worked from day one of this school term to create the magic that this musical entails.
After school and weekend rehearsals have seen this production evolve and come to life on the stage.
The role of music teacher, Sue Sell and the student band has provided an exciting aspect to this production, with the band playing and singing nearly 20 songs featured from the fifties, sixties and seventies, live on stage.
So come and support the local teenage talent of Jindabyne as their singing, dancing and acting makes this production come to life.
Opening night is in the SMGS Snowy Shed on Monday June 16 at the special family time of 5pm. With encores showing on Tuesday June 17 and Wednesday June 18 at 7pm. Tickets are $6 for children and students, $12 for adults, or get a family special ticket for just $30.
They are available at SMGS front office.
