THE Men From Snowy River Group met up again on June 3 for their monthly get together.
This time it was held at the Berridale Community Centre.
About 20 men attended where the main theme was imparting knowledge and wisdom to 13 Grade 5 boys from Berridale Primary School.
It was quite successful. Several men spoke of years gone by, how different life was then as compared to today.
The boys were very attentive and appeared to take a lot in. It was quite well done.
Questions were put to the men about different subjects and about the years when they were young - did they enjoy school days? Sports they played etc.
Morning tea was served as usual with all the cakes and nice things, the boys sure enjoyed themselves getting into the cakes!
It was refreshing to see such a group of fine, well mannered boys who will one day be worthwhile citizens in our community.
As they left each boy went around to shake hands with all the Men in our group, great to see.
Meghan Quinn, SRSC Youth Development and Resource Bank Project Officer spoke of a program she is involved in, which is trying to direct young people into the right channels for them to achieve a successful career and point them in the right direction to create a good life style.
She asked about the possibility of some of our men getting involved in the program, a few responded and signed up as mentors for the Snowy River Resource Bank.
Lunch was served and everyone enjoyed a hot meal with nice sweets as well, thanks again Meagan (i.e. Meagan the caterer).
Another thank you to Lee and her helpers and Community Services and Berridale Public School for bringing along the young students and all their questions.
