Jindabyne athletes make a statement at championships

JINDABYNE Little Athletics had a small but strong team qualify for the ACT state championships following success at regionals.

The team that travelled to Canberra comprised of Jacqui Theile, Sophie Pidcock, Zara Gardiner, River Kent, Mackenzie Sadgrove, Fletcher Thew and Tori Flanagan.

All athletes performed to their best with some great results achieved for themselves and the club.

Mackenzie Sadgrove competed in six events, winning gold in the long jump and high jump.

He came third in the 400m and performed well in the 70m, 100m and 200m sprints.

Tori Flanagan competed in five events - 70m, 100m and 200m sprints, as well as the 60m hurdles and the long jump. Tori improved on her qualifying times and placed second in the hurdles and third in the 70m.

Jacqui Theile competed in three events - the javelin, where she came fourth, the long jump and high jump, where she achieved a personal best.

River Kent finished equal fifth in the high jump.

Sophie Pidcock competed in the 200m hurdles and finished sixth in the high jump.

Fletcher Thew took part in the 60m hurdles and the 100m sprint, where he came fourth.

Zara Gardiner put in excellent performances in the long jump, where she came eighth, and the shot put, with a throw of 7.12m.
