Making waves at state championships

SNOWY Mountains Grammar School won its first ISA trophy in swimming at the ISA championships in Homebush late last month.

The girls intermediate Division 2 Trophy will be displayed in the SMGS Trophy Cabinet for the next 12 months.

The team included Sophie Nicholl, Isabella Oatley, Isabella Emmert, Maggie Tugwell and Kate Hobbs.

They beat Blue Mountains Grammar School, St Spyridon College, Oakhill College, Oxley College, St Paul's Grammar School and The Scot's School Bathurst to win the 15/16 years age group point score.

The "clincher" was a fantastic start to win in the 4x50m Freestyle relay, backing up from second place in the medley relay.

The junior girl's team came second overall, the entire SMGS girl's team in Division 2 combined came fourth, Molly Nicholl - the only Senior girl - came fourth on her own.

The boy's teams came sixth and seventh and worked very hard against some very strong competition from large boy's school.
