The routine of daily life in Berridale is about to be severaly disrupted with major road closures put in place to allow the removal of 12 of the township's historic poplars.
Plans for the removal of 12 of the poplar trees lining the Kosciuszko Road through Berridale have been submitted to the Roads & Maritime Services(RMS) for approval. This process means Kosciuszko Road between Myack Street and Poplar Street will be closed between 9am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday for a two week period commencing Monday March 31.
Following the community consultation evening that took place in Berridale's Community Hall recently the council has confirmed Jindabyne Landscaping as the preferred contractor, submitted plans for approval to divert main road traffic through Berridale and undertaken works to minimise any "suckering" by the trees once the removal process begins.
While work to remove the trees is in progress residents, especially those with properties along Kosciouszko Road should expect some disruption to their normal activities as pedestrian and vehicle access will be restricted.
