Dodging snakes to restore sight

WALKING for 100km is something most of us can't even imagine having the willpower to attempt, but a group of four Jindabyne woman will be doing just that this Friday.

Raelene Nicholson, Virginia Logan, Amanda Blythe, and Helen Smith, otherwise known as 'The Jindabyne Jokesters', are taking the Coastal Trek team challenge in support of the Fred Hollows Foundation.

The women have a total of 36 hours to walk the 100km from Palm Beach to Coogee Beach, Sydney, all in the name of restoring sight to people who are needlessly blind. In the lead up to Friday The Jindabyne Jokesters have been making use of the illustrious walking tracks throughout the Kosciuszko National Park and Snowy River Shire, dodging snakes through the summer to prepare for the event.

"It is a very long walk that seems unimaginable, but with our determination and love of The Fred Hollows Foundation, we are going to put all efforts into making it across the finish line," said team member Raelene Nicholson.
