Perisher's new chairlift

Perisher is building a new Quad Chairlift in Guthega for the 2014 snow season, aptly named the Freedom Chairlift.

Chief executive of Perisher, Peter Brulisauer said, "It's very exciting to announce the new Guthega Freedom Chairlift. Guthega is my favourite of Perisher's four resort areas, with such terrific wide open groomed runs like Karl's, Schnaxl and Bloody Mary and top off-piste runs like The Screw.

"With the best snow views in Australia, and great snow quality, I just love it. The Freedom Chairlift will unlock these runs and new terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders."

Guthega's lifting capacity will increase by 46 per cent with the new Freedom Chair, giving skiers and snowboarders more time to enjoy Guthega's great terrain.

With the capacity to carry 2,400 people per hour, the new Freedom Chair will lift enthusiaists 200 metres from 1713m to 1913m. Entry gates will allow people to track vertical metres on the Perisher Dashboard.

The much anticipated lift will take skiers and snowboarders from the bottom of the Cow Pastures J-Bar to the Top of the Blue Cow T-Bar in Guthega. Cow Pastures J-Bar will be removed and will open up skiing on Hanky Panky and on the Cow Pastures lift line which will be great on a powder day.
