Ella-Rose Manning, school captain of Jindabyne Central School, has shown remarkable leadership skills. Mayor John Cahill said her willingness to help anyone and everyone that needed it, and her moral courage - the ability to stand up for what is just and fair - were among her outstanding qualities.
She is the youngest of three children and has represented Jindabyne Central School at the shire's annual NAIDOC Week event.
She has represented the school via the Student Representative Council for many years, and last year designed and delivered a bullying workshop to her peers from around NSW.
Many local residents will have seen her working at High Country Outfitters at weekends, or painting owls with the youth council at Razorback Plaza.
All in all, these were the qualities that made Ella-Rose a natural choice as Young Citizen of the Year.
