Neil gets top tourism job

Long-term Perisher sponsorship and public relations guru Neil Thew has been appointed as the next boss of Tourism Snowy Mountains (TSM). He replaces Peter Sheppard who resigned late last year and will take up his new position early next month.

His appointment was announced by TSM chairman Wayne Hart.

Mr Thew, a long term Jindabyne resident, has Bachelor of Arts and Master of Marketing Communication degrees.

He also has a wide background in hotel accommodation, business services, and snow sport clothing and accessories in the tourism industry in both the Snowy Mountains and Colorado, USA.

Until recently Mr Thew held business development, media, PR and sponsorship roles with Perisher.

"This with his earlier roles brings a unique background in tourism including small business and major resort management and marketing," Mr Hart said.

"We are very fortunate to have someone of Neil's calibre to join us at TSM and to provide leadership across our marketing and tourism development activities."

Mr Thew will attend the recently announced tourism industry meeting on Canberra Airport developments to be held on February 4. This will give many of members and stakeholders the opportunity to meet him in his new role.
