NBN no go, says Hendy

Endorsed Liberal candidate for the federal seat of Eden-Monaro Peter Hendy has hit out at Member Mike Kelly over the National Broadband Network (NBN).

He claims Dr Kelly has been misleading over the rollout of the NBN.

"Residents in the region need to know the truth that the NBN is years away from being completed and virtually none of them will have access to the NBN in the next three

years, let alone before the next election," Dr Hendy said.

"For Eden-Monaro the acronym 'NBN' basically stands for 'No Broadband Nearby'.

"Mr Kelly claims that the NBN is being delivered to Eden-Monaro. However it is on the

never-never.

"A quick look at the NBN website will confirm that no town in Eden-Monaro will have fibre to their premises before the next federal election. Look up any town but Queanbeyan and it will say that there are no plans for your town 'just yet' and please subscribe to the NBN newsletter for updates", Mr Hendy said.

"The fact is that the ALP has been promising high speed broadband for Eden-Monaro since

before the 2007 Federal Election. Now, five years later, they still haven't delivered" Dr Hendy said.

Previously, Dr Kelly had given an assurance that all people in the New South Wales south east would have access to the National Broadband Network.
