Wind warning for Snowy Mountains

A severe weather warning for damaging winds has been issued for people in the Snowy Mountains. 

The warning was issued on Wednesday, with a slow-moving low pressure trough scheduled to approach Alpine areas on Thursday morning.

Damaging winds around 80 km/h with peak gusts of 130 km/h are forecast for elevated parts of the Snowy Mountains forecast district above 1900 metres.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.

- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.

- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
