On Sunday November 10 Anglican Bishop Stuart Robinson announced that Rev Owen and Mrs Hazel Davies will be concluding their ministry with the Anglican and Uniting church known as Snowy Mountains Church at the end of the year.
They will be moving to Canberra to serve in chaplaincy at the University of Canberra and to establish a new church nearby.
Bishop Stuart commended the Davies for their significant contribution to the church with the growth of a multi-age congregation in Jindabyne.
With the approach of Christmas and people being away on holidays the Davies' will be farewelled at services on Sunday December 15 in Jindabyne with the children's Christmas celebration at 10am in the Uniting Church at 19 Gippsland St. A highlight of this day will be the baptism of three people in the Snowy River after the church service.
A lunch at the Jindabyne Bowling Club from 12 noon will follow for anyone in the community who would like to call by and say there farewells. If joining the lunch please RSVP to 6456 2411 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
This Sunday Rev Graham Simpson from the Church Missionary Society will be preaching and sharing news of good things happening with the church in other nations. He is looking forward to meeting parishioners and visitors with a heart for the developing world at the new summer time traditional Anglican worship at All Saints Berridale at 8.30 am.
Then at 10am he will be at the Family Worship with the children's program Moguls at the Alpine Uniting Church at 19 Gippsland St Jindabyne.
Rev Simpson specialises in training church leaders and has served extensively in South East Asia. The Snowy church will explore how to more meaningfully support the work of church overseas.
