Berridale in close tussle

There was plenty of friendly rivalry between the Berridale and Rocky Plains teams and it was great to see a total of 29 players competing in men's, ladies and mixed doubles. Sue Luccarda had a tough time trying to keep the things running smoothly with late arrivals, players having to double up and even a couple of our Berridale Ladies volunteering to play for the Rocky Plains men's team in order to facilitate numbers.

We had one epic match between Fay Smits and Hermann Obermaier against Katrina and Michael Hedger which was finally decided in favour of the Hedgers 15 games to 13 in a tie breaker.

We managed to get through the schedule of matches with a delicious barbecue lunch provided by the club. It was also great to see so many youngsters enjoying the family day and facilities and some budding future players were able to have a hit between matches. Rocky Plains was the victor defeating the Berridale side 19 sets 144 games to 8 sets 93 games.

Some of our Berridale team members had already played on the Saturday afternoon comp, backing up on Sunday and even taking to the courts on Monday for our regular social tennis morning.

The winner of the 100 Club was Judy Tinker and John Jagoda came second. The club appreciates the support of the local community.
