Berridale hostel residents enjoy Floriade

Residents of the Snowy River Hostel in Berridale were treated to a special outing last week. Under spectacular blue skies the group travelled to Canberra to explore the beautiful floral displays of Floriade.

Hostel Activities Coordinator, Mirjam Aigner said, "We had a wonderful day out with everyone enjoying Floriade. We try to arrange regular outings for the residents so that they can enjoy activities outside of the Hostel. Keeping active is obviously well known to improve health and wellbeing mentally and physically for all ages.

"This year we have also been to the Glorious Days exhibition at the National Museum and have a trip planned to visit the War Memorial in the not too distant future."

The residents were accompanied by several staff members from the Hostel and volunteers, and council staff Luke O'Sullivan and Mandy Gallagher. The group travelled together in the community transport bus.

Members of the public are always welcome to register for volunteering in the shire. Volunteers can register interest for future outings and other council services such as Meal on Wheels by contacting our community services staff on 6451 1195.
