All-rounder pupil Michaela Ripper has been recognised with a Minister's Award for Excellence in Student Achievement.
Michaela, a Jindabyne Central School (JCS) student, is one of 31 secondary public school pupils from across the state to receive the prestigious award.
"Michaela is a student of exceptional quality, achieving the Dux award in each year of her secondary schooling," accoording to state Member for Monaro John Barilaro..
"In her role as school captain Michaela demonstrates excellent leadership skills, she was selected as first violinist and assistant manager of her school orchestra and has achieved the Premier's Sporting Challenge Diamond Award every year since 2008."
Michaela was presented with her award by the Parliamentary Secretary for Tertiary Education and Skills, Mark Speakman, during a ceremony in Sydney.
Mr Barilaro met Michaela at Jindabyne Central School to congratulate her on receiving the award.
"The skills, interest and personal achievements of Michaela are a great reflection on the Monaro region and its young people," Mr Barilaro said.
"I congratulate Michaela for the contribution she makes to her school and the community at large."
The awards are presented to year 12 students who have maintained a high level of achievement throughout their high school years and acknowledge outstanding performance in a range of areas.
The awards also recognise students who hold leadership positions in their school communities, undertake community service work, and who represent their schools in external forums.
