THE driver of a utility was lucky to escape serious injury after he apparently lost control of his vehicle after hitting a kangaroo on Friday night.
The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest in a paddock on the Snowy River Way.
The 25-year-old man, from Sydney was driving towards Dalgety on the Snowy River Way, about four kilometres from the Maffra Road turnoff, near Mount Pleasant, when he hit the kangaroo and lost control of his vehicle.
The Mitsubishi Triton dual cab utility rolled several times, hitting a fence post and farm gate, and the tray was torn off the utility and flung several metres away from the vehicle.
A family from Bombala stopped to provide assistance to the man, who got out of the vehicle by himself, and was complaining of neck pain. Jindabyne paramedics took the man to the Cooma Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jindabyne police and the Dalgety Rural Fire Service brigade also attended the accident.
