Liberals woo High Country voters

Residents living and working in the High Country had the opportunity to learn more about the Liberal Party's plan to "restore hope, reward and

opportunity" to Eden-Monaro when Liberal Candidate, Peter Hendy and Senator Eric Abetz, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, met with voters in the region last week.

"It is terrific to be in Lake Crackenback in support of Peter Hendy's campaign to win the seat of Eden-Monaro. Peter is a hard-working Liberal candidate who is well-known and respected by senior Coalition members and Senators. He is ready and able to serve this electorate and understands the importance of boosting jobs and investment in this region,," Senator Abetz said.

Mr Hendy emphasised there was a strong mood for change within the Eden-Monaro electorate, with people very concerned about the instability of the Gillard-Rudd governments.

They realised, he said, short-term pop-star populism was not a substitute for a positive policy plan like the Coalition has put forward.

"The Liberal Party has a plan for getting this country back on track. Our plan will see us ease cost of living pressures on Eden-Monaro households by scrapping the carbon tax, we will cut the red and green tape for small business and we will stop the boats,'' Mr Hendy said.

"I am very excited to have facilitated meetings with people who live and work in the High Country, in order for Senator Abetz to hear first-hand their views and concerns.

"This region is a unique part of Australia. However, as locals will tell you, this has been a neglected part of the electorate and they are sick of being overlooked. Having someone as senior as Senator Abetz here reflects the Coalition's strong ongoing commitment to the Snowy Mountains region.''
