ABC radio- no and yes, says the council

The Snowy River Shire Council has rejected calls for the establishment of a special council committee to support the retention of ABC FM and Radio JJJ broadcast to the region.

Instead, "after careful consideration," the council has decided that its preferred option is for the formation of an independent support group rather than a council Section 355 Committee.

The council said a group, independent of the council, would allow greater flexibility in determining the best future direction for the ABC radio services in the Jindabyne area.

"Council will no longer maintain the current services installed on council's Water Tower and encourages the Support Group to meet and determine the group structure and future for the radio services to the Jindabyne area.," the council said.
