THE Snowy Mountains Quilters meets every Thursday at Horizons Resort in Jindabyne. We have a very talented group of ladies whose interests include Patchwork, Quilting, Tapestry, Embroidery, Applique, Knitting and Crocheting etc. Every Easter we have a Quilt Show in Jindabyne to coincide with the Lake Light Sculpture Exhibition, Lions Art Show, Craft Market, and in recent years, the Snowy Mountains Readers Writers Festival. All the quilts on display are produced by the ladies of the Snowy Mountains Quilters.
We also have a craft stall at the Quilt Show selling craft goods made by the ladies. Some of the Quilts will be for sale while others are for exhibition only.
Each year our group makes a Quilt, to raffle, to raise money for a local needy group. We commence the selling of raffle tickets at the Easter Quilt Show and then sell the tickets throughout the year with the raffle then being drawn before Christmas.
This year, our group has elected to use the raffle money to go toward the purchase of equipment needed for use by disabled skiers.
For entry to our Quilt Show we ask for a gold coin donation.
This money is then used to purchase the material to make the quilt for the next year's raffle. Our quilt for raffle this year has been pieced by the Snowy Mountains Quilters and then professionally quilted by Rebecca Rae of 'A Stitch in Line' - Jindabyne, and Rebecca has very generously donated the cost, of the quilting and her time, for which we are very grateful.
