Cross-Triathlon championship

THE 2013 Australian Cross-Triathlon Championships kick off in one of the most spectacular event locations of the series on Saturday and Sunday March 9 and 10. Based at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa, this extreme event showcases the Snowy Mountains and promises to be the most memorable race venue of the series.

Contenders for the Australian Championship will take on a 1,000-metre swim, 24-kilometre XC MTB and 8-kilometre trail run. The weekend also includes a sprint, junior and dirt kids cross-triathlon, a trail run and fun run plus a free mud rats event for the little ones.

The Championships are sanctioned by Triathlon Australia and will be the qualifying round for the ITU World Cross Triathlon Championships in the The Hague, Netherlands in July.

The event is set to be an adrenalin-packed weekend of off-road action. The Tre-X Australian Championship event is open to all competitors aged 15 years and over.

Tourism Snowy Mountains chief executive Peter Sheppard says the event is a positive boost for the economy and marketing of the region.

"Competitors will come from all over Australia for the Cross-Triathlon Championships. The progressive investment in facilities and infrastructure is paying off. Well done to Lake Crackenback Resort in pitching and winning this great event. It will undoubtedly assist in positioning Snowy Mountains as Australia's adventure sports capital."
