Member for Monaro John Barilaro says the state government is progressing with plans to reinstate an environmental research committee in the Snowy Mountains.
A discussion paper outlining the government's progress on plans to upgrade the Snowy Scientific Committee to a Snowy Advisory Committee with a more defined role and broader membership will be released soon.
The discussion paper sets out the water recovery program for the Snowy system, the requirements for the Snowy Scientific Committee, the reasons for changing, and seeks the public's views on the most appropriate arrangements and membership for the future Committee.
"I can assure that the community will be engaged in a consultation process and from there a new committee will be established," Mr Barilaro said.
