Upbeat action in absorbing finals

ON Sunday the final of the Triples competition was held at the Jindabyne Bowling and Sporting Club. On a fine Sunday afternoon, B. Skelly, P. Jefferson, C. Demczuk beat K. Maynard, B. Beattie, D. Turner, in a very entertaining and absorbing final. 21-16. Congratulaions to the 2013 champions led by Chris Demczuk.

In major singles competition, round 2 games, G. Isle d. K. McCrorie 31-22 and M. Griffiths d. W. Beattie 32-11. In a minor singles round 2 match, G.Isle d. J.van Dongen 31-25.

Also on the weekend of February 2 an 3, Monaro District Pairs competitions were held at Adaminaby. The Jindabyne Bowling and Sporting Club were well represented at Adaminaby. In the senior pairs, in a round 1 match, M. Fauldner and T. Butler lost their match against R. Wainwright and D. Steinfort, from Cooma, 27-18. In round 2 action, K. McCrorie and V. Weston played fellow Jindabyne bowlers L. Whithead and D. McDonald, with Ken and Vic running out winners 21-13.

In their Sunday morning match against K. Weston and M. Buckley of Cooma ,Ken and Vic could not reproduce the previous days effort and were unfortunately beaten 30-13. The winners of the District Seniors pairs are N. McGregor and P. Schroeder of Cooma who beat K. Weston and M. Buckley 21-17. In mens District State pairs, the winners were D. Russell and G. Clarke from Adaminaby.

In mens District Reserve pairs, D. Turner and K. Maynard lost their match against G. Venables and G. Cox, from Cooma, 24-21. In another match, D. Kugler and M. Griffiths lost their match against R. Russell and P. Caldwell, from Cooma, 19-8. the winners of the District Reserve pairs were M. Storta and W. Lodge from Cooma.

This coming weekend the District State singles and Senior singles will be played at Cooma.In State singles action will be G. Griffin against S. Harriden, from Adaminaby, D. Turner against D. Pinner, from Adaminaby and C. Demczuk against M. Griffiths, both From Jindabyne. In Senior singles action, L. Whitehead plays S. Roncelli form Cooma and V. Weston plays N. McGregor, also from Cooma. The Friday evening chicken run is in full swing, those wishing to play can find the nomination sheet on the mens bowls noticeboard or phoned into the club on 64562133. Names to be in by 5pm for a 5.30pm start. Anyone interested in playing, come along and enjoy a great evening of bowls.
