JINDABYNE'S Learning Centre, run by Cooma TAFE, had a very successful year in 2012 with many students achieving their language, study and computer goals. Students who attended the centre received help with beginner computing skills, English as a second language, online study, as well as general reading, writing and workplace communication skills.
Semester 1, 2013 starts the week of February 11 and the Learning Centre will run once a week in the evening, with the day and time to be determined by demand.
The Learning Centre is located in the Jindabyne TAFE annexe in the Sport and Recreation complex on the Barry Way.
The learning environment at the Centre is individualised, which means that students who attend the centre are working in their own area of interest at their own pace.
The teacher provides help with language, literacy, numeracy, study and computer skills to help students progress with their studies.
Students don't have to be already enrolled in another course to attend. If students have a specific area of interest, or feel they need general help with language, literacy, numeracy and computer skills to prepare for further study, the teacher can help students find a suitable TAFE course or can provide general study material.
The Learning Centre is very relaxed and informal, with no tests or deadlines.
Everyone is welcome, although participants do need to be 15 years or over.
So if there is something you have always wanted help with, or if you are thinking about a change in career, or starting a course just for interest, then the Learning Centre could be a good place to start.
TAFE now has online enrolments, so anybody interested in the Jindabyne Learning Centre can go to www.illawarra.tafensw.edu.au to register for the free TAFE course 2244 Language, Literacy and Numeracy.
If you would like further information or help with your online enrolment, please contact Janine Becker on 6457 8303 or General Education at Cooma TAFE on 6452 0756.
Cooma TAFE also runs other courses at the Jindabyne annexe such as English Language Programs, Skills for Work and Study (Year 10 and 11 Pathway), Digital Photography, and Business Administration. For further information please call Cooma TAFE on 6452 0799.
