Fantastic performance from local swimmers

02 Feb, 2012 09:54 AM
The weekend saw nine Jindabyne swimmers competing in the Batemans Bay carnival on Saturday and then fronting up on Sunday for the Eden carnival.

All swimmers showed they are continually improving with several swimmers beating their personal best times and finding themselves in the medals. Molly Nicholl put in an outstanding effort considering she was unable to train prior to the weekend due to illness and she was still recovering.

Some of the highlights from the Batemans Bay carnival - and there were many- include:

Our youngest swimmer Chelsea Tapply broke two seconds off her 50mtr freestyle and four seconds off her 50mtr breaststroke. Luke Robinson picked up one first place, two second places and two third places for his age group.

Connor McDonald two second and one third place for his age group. Ian Grant one secondand two thirds in his age group. Hannah Robinson three seconds off her 50mtr backstroke time, four seconds off her 50mtr freestyle and three seconds off her 50mtr breaststroke personal best times.

Naomi Waters two first places in her age group. Sophie Nicholl four first places, one second place and two third places in her age group. Helena Waters two first places and two second places in her age group. Molly Nicholl three first places and three second places in her age group.

The highlights from the Eden carnival were as follows;

Chelsea Tapply third place eight year old girls 50mtr breaststroke and 15 seconds off her personal best time. Luke Robinson one first place, two second places and two third places in his age group.

Connor McDonald twofirstplaces, two second places and two third places in his age group. Ian Grant personal best time in the 200mtr freestyle and 100mtr freestyle. Hannah Robinson six seconds off her personal best time for the 50mtr butterfly. Naomi Waters two third places in her age group. Sophie Nicholl four second places in her age group. Helena Waters three first places and two secondplaces in her age group. Molly Nicholl one first place and one second place in her age group.

This was a great effort by all the children and they can now start preparations for the combined Jindabyne Cooma carnival being held at the Berridale pool on Saturday February 11. Don’t forget Friday club night swimming is in full swing so see you there this Friday at 5pm.
