The district was represented in the E and F triennial competition held at Picton last week. The region was represented by Annabel Gammon, Del Turner, Lyn McMahon and Glenda Daal.
This a competition between the E. Group, which is the Northern end of our Group, and F Group which is the southern end.
F Group is made up of clubs from Far south coast, South coast, Bega Imlay and Snowy Mountains
E Group consisted teams from Illawarra and Southern tablelands.
The Monaro team won two of the three games they played which was very good as they had to play clubs who play all the year, All our greens are not available during the winter so practice is very limited due to the cold weather.
On Monday the weather started out windy with a very light rain. The second day had very light rain but not enough to delay play.
The trophy was won this year by F Group, congratulations with special mention to the team.
The local competition began on Thursday with the versatile triples played at Coolamatong. The green was a bit on the heavy side as it was recently cored and also there was a shower of rain the previous night. However, the 42 players all managed to finish, with some threatening to go to the gym to improve their muscles.
The winners were the team of Lyn McMahon, Aylene Madden and Lana Theobald. Second- Dell Turner, Doreen Jenkins and Coral Hume. Third- Helen Peuker, Daphne Fraser and Natalie Cannell. Congratulations to these players
The next game of women’s district bowls is the versatility triples at Nimmitabel next Thursday with morning tea at 9am.
