The Jindabyne "Wild Brumby" Miss Piggies recorded their second win for the season last Saturday to the tune of 26 to 7 over Wests/ADFA. The home ground game was a little closer then the score reflects but the Jindabyne women played probably their best rugby of the year in a tight tussle.
The game was a tough contest in the forwards with lots of turnovers and some bruising defence required. Jindabyne's 2 speedsters, Kim Wellings and Fiona Tilley, scored the first 2 tries for the team with Kim kicking both conversions. Jindabyne then seemed to relax which let the ADFA players mount some pressure and eventually score a try. The halftime score was 14 to 7 and the game was in the balance.
After halftime Jindabyne switched back on and despite running into a stiff breeze mounted some continued pressure on the ADFA line, which saw Kirsty Patton score wide out and Kim Wellings was unlucky not to convert it for the extra points. A great steal by Fiona saw her out pace everyone as she scorched the touchline from inside her own half to score her second try which Kim converted leaving the final score at 26 to 7. The Miss Piggies are slowly improving but a big plus must be the great form shown by the front row of Jasmin, Poss and Katie, who are really match their opponents and showing how strong they are.
The 'Players Player' award went to Heather Craig who showed some fantastic bone crunching defence and great running. A special get well must go to Amy who was taken away in the ambulance but is recovering nicely in hospital.
The girls now have a couple of weeks break then a game down at Dalmeny against a South Coast Development team.
