Summer netball in Jindabyne

15 Oct, 2009 10:50 AM
The whistle is about to start play for this year’s Jindabyne netball competition.

There are some new things happening this year but to make it a success the club needs lots of new members. The emphasis is on fun and fitness – with a healthy dose of socialising. Tuesday night netball in Jindabyne has been a tradition for more than 25 years and it always has been the best place to meet new friends – especially if you are new to the town or only here for a summer.

Registration will be on Sunday, November 8 at the Banjo Paterson Inn between noon and 2pm. The first game will be on Tuesday, December 1 at Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre at 207 The Barry Way.

There will be a pool of “extra players” each week in case a team is short. This will mean that all games will be played.

There will be try outs for a new Under 17s representative side on Tuesday, October 27 from 5 to 7pm at Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre. There will also be a meeting for parents to discuss what will be involved.

Most of these players started as seven and eight year olds playing with the club on Saturday mornings in Cooma at Netta – they have now reached the stage where they are playing netball at representative level and we want to be able to continue supporting our players of the future. Jindabyne netball club is looking at re introducing junior netball as well in 2010. We have a growing population and really sporty kids – let’s make netball a major sport in this town!

There will be fundraising at Jindabyne Mitre 10 on Saturday mornings with a barbecue between 10am to 12pm on October 17, 24 and 31. Come along and have some lunch and, raise some money and get to meet new people in town who might love to become part of Jindabyne netball. There will also be a seafood raffle at the Banjo Paterson Inn on Saturday nights between 6pm and 6.30pm.
