The Lake Jindabyne Snow Dragons travelled to Canberra on January 30 for the Canberra Dragon Boat Association 200 metre regatta, and came away with a 2nd place in the B Final, and fast times over two heats.
A full crew - 20 in a boat - with Sweep Neil Messinbird and Drummer Madi Davis calling the shots, worked hard in perfect conditions to beat more fancied crews from the capital.
The crew’s times dropped over the three races, and they paddled the final distance in 53.56 seconds, which would have been enough to get a third place in the A Finals.
The Snow Dragon’s performance was a huge encouragement for the upcoming Flowing Festival, as the Sports Category has attracted the top dragon boat clubs in the State and in the ACT.
The races over the Flowing Festival weekend on February 13 to 14 will showcase the best teams around in the region, and we’re all hoping for fine weather and smooth water.
