Rec footy back

08 Oct, 2009 04:11 PM
Rec footy returns to Cooma on Sunday October 25 with men, women, boys and girls over 12 years invited to play with both new and old players welcome.

Rec footy is a form of AFL football that is a fun, non contact mixed game of footy. The game is a hybrid of touch footy, AFL and Oztag football.

Two teams of eight play each other with unlimited interchanges with each team having a minimum of three female players on the field at any one time.

The field is divided into three zones and teams can only score from the forward zone from a set shot. Some other rules include if the ball touches the ground it is an automatic turnover and there is no contact, bumping or tackling. Tag belts are used to mark players.

Rec Footy costs just $5 a game or $40 for the season of if you are a 2010 AFL registered player it is free. BBQ and refreshments are also available at the ground. Rec Footy takes place at Snowy Oval on Yarra St between 5 and 7pm on Sunday evenings.

Register your interest or team by calling Stuart Butterfield on 0422496400. For more information you can visit www.coomacats.org.au.
