Snowy Mountains Neighbourhood Centre will launch the project following a White Ribbon Day brunch at 11am on November 25.

White Ribbon Day aims to make domestic violence against women a thing of the past. It also encourages men to swear that they will not commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women.

Open Door Project coordinator Narelle Willems said she hoped the community would support White Ribbon Day by wearing a White Ribbon or a Wristband, which can be purchased from the Snowy Mountains Neighbourhood Centre for $2.

“We are also very excited to be launching the Snowy River Domestic Violence Project on the same day,” Ms Williams said.

The Snowy River domestic violence project, which is funded by the Office of Women’s Policy and the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, will be able to assist women and families in the Snowy River Shire who are experiencing domestic violence. Julie Hathaway has been newly employed to take on the role of running the project out of the Neighbourhood Centre.

“We are all very excited for the Shire to have Julie on board. If you would like to meet Julie, please come along to our launch,” Ms Willems said.
