A triumphant Tegan Molloy returned home to Jindabyne this week as the under 15 year women’s Australian Mountain Bike Champion.
The fourteen year old year nine student from Jindabyne Central School has been steadily making a name for herself on the mountain bike circuit and last week battled a technically challenging and rocky course in Adelaide at the Eagle Mountain Bike Park to win the national title.
Proud grandad John Mc Laughlin made no effort to conceal his excitement on his “postie run” around Jindabyne this week.
Tegan was accompanied by a strong team of local riders. Brad Adern placed second in the Expert Men category - just missing out on a first place podium finish.
Sam Tomasi faced huge challenges in the highly competitive under 17 year old men’s competition and finished in the top 20 with a very credible 18th.
Tim Windshuttle was looking at the top of his game until he clipped a tree after launching off a rock jump but still managed to finish 10th. Michael Dargan battled it out in the under 19 years for a 41st finish.
All riders would like to thank South East Mountain Biking Company for their sponsorship.
The next round of racing is in Shepperton Victoria - which is the second round of the National Series. This will be followed by events in Thredbo in February and finishing in March at Mt. Stromlo in Canberra.
